Track Utilization Optimization Method for Arrival Yard of Marshalling Station Considering Arrival and Break-Up Coordination Operation

The efficiency of track utilization is one the important factors for train operation in marshalling stations, and it can not only affect turnover trains, but also determine capacity railway stations. This paper presents an optimization method arrival yard a station considering Arrival Break-up Coordination Operation (ABCO). interaction between push trains investigated. First, case crossing running route shunting locomotives analyzed. Whether crosses or greatly duration occupying tracks station. Then, nonlinear integer programming model (NLPM) established based on above analysis. ultimate goal to minimize number crossovers by adding constraint condition ensuring traffic safety. A assignment algorithm ABCO solving NLPM proposed. Train operations downlink are simulated with proposed method. results after applying show that average reduced 49.1%, degree which balanced significantly improved. optimizes extends current achievements have been reported literature.
